Claude Code
Anthropic documents Claude Code as a coding assistant that can edit files, run commands, and work with git across development tasks.
The official overview describes supported workflows and surfaces, including the terminal, IDE extensions, desktop, and web. It documents multi-file changes, command execution, and git workflows.
Does it save time once review is included?
The overview does not establish a productivity gain on your repositories, a reduction in review time, or an acceptable failure rate for your team.
Task selection, human correction time, tool permissions, and API or subscription costs can change the outcome.
Repository-task evaluation
Not run. This is a protocol, not a result.
- Choose ten representative, non-sensitive repository tasks and define acceptance tests before starting.
- Pin the tool version, model, instructions, permissions, and baseline workflow. Use isolated repository copies.
- Run both workflows, repeating tasks where feasible. Include review time and failed attempts in the record.
- Compare accepted changes, total time, cost, and failure types. Treat a small sample as exploratory, not conclusive.
Record these measurements
- Task completion time
- Tests passed and failures
- Human review and correction time
- API or subscription cost
- Permission and security incidents
Keep all attempts, including failures. A ten-task trial is exploratory; report its limits rather than generalizing to other workloads.
